Project Proposal: Broward County Poet-in-Residence Anastasia Clark presents: Poetic Tribute to Amelia Earhart Background: My name is Anastasia Clark and I am a poet living in South Florida. I'm putting together a poetry project for next year (Oct 2011- Sept 2012) which would involve gathering Broward area poets to create poetry that is inspired by the life and legends of Amelia Earhart. I have recently learned of her love of poetry- and thought it might make a fitting tribute to her memory. It would be my third "Broward County Poet-in-Residence" project here in the Fort Lauderdale area. Most of it would be either grant funded or otherwise supported by various businesses. Objective: To gather 50-60 poems and refine them into a cohesive collection, suitable for public display- dedicated to Amelia Earhart. The poems will be printed on fine paper, featuring the artwork of Shae Christine Elaine Leighland-Pence. Display / Presentation Opportunities*: 1)- The Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum in Atchison, KS has already agreed to accept and display the collection during April 2012 National Poetry Month. 2)- It is anticipated that several Broward County Libraries will display a copy of the collection during April 2012 National Poetry Month. 3)- A public reading of the poems is being planned for the Ft. Lauderdale area. *I am hoping to share a copy of this collection with as many organizations as possible. If you would be willing to display this tribute, please advise when you could display it? Sponsorship / Support Opportunities**: The following items are needed for this project: 1)- Linen paper (grays, light yellows, pink, ivory). 2)- Ink cartridges- black and color ink. 3)- Postage- rolls of stamps or post office gift card. 4)- A leather bound album (for presentation to the Amelia Earhart Birthplace museum). 5)- Plain paper (for flyers and other informal announcements, etc). 6)- Donated gift cards ($25.00 to give to each poet who contributes poetry). **If you could offer any of these items, your business or organization would be mentioned in all press releases, advertising copy, flyers and other related project materials, including the final display.
